How can Vilafinil help me ?
Vilafinil 200 mg is used to reduce excessive sleepiness due to narcolepsy (a condition that causes excessive daytime sleepiness) or shift work sleep disorder (drowsiness during scheduled waking hours and difficulty falling asleep or returning to sleep during scheduled sleeping hours in people working night or rotating shifts).
Vilafinil is also used in conjunction with respiratory protective devices or other treatments to reduce excessive sleepiness caused by obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS, a sleep disorder in which the patient briefly stops breathing or breathes shallowly several times during sleep and therefore does not get enough restful sleep).
Vilafinil 200 mg belongs to a class of medications called wakefulness promoters. It works by altering the levels of certain natural substances in the brain that affect sleep and wakefulness.
How should this medicine be used?
It is usually taken once a day, with or without food. If you are taking modafinil to treat narcolepsy or OSAHS, you will probably take it in the morning. If you are taking modafinil to treat sleep disturbances related to shift work, you will probably take it one hour before starting work.
Take modafinil every day. Do not change the time of day you take modafinil without talking to your doctor. Talk to your doctor if your work shift does not start at the same time every day. Follow the instructions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any parts you do not understand. Take modafinil exactly as directed.
Vilafinil (modafinil) can cause habituation. Do not take a larger dose, take it more often, or take it for a longer time than prescribed by your doctor.
Vilafinil (modafinil) should not be used to achieve sufficient sleep. Follow your doctor’s advice on good sleep habits. Continue using any respiratory support equipment or other treatments prescribed by your doctor to manage your condition, especially if you have OSAHS.
